Blog Thoughts

For the last couple of weeks I have been reading about ways to improve your blog. I know that I am new to the blog community and all it has to offer, but I am very eager to learn.

I started this blog to document my life with the possibility of others enjoying my life stories and the events that happen in it. So far its been pretty good, but there are definitely some things that I have realized over the last couple months.

* The number of page views does not determine if my blog is interesting or not...it could just be how I am "marketing" my blog. I've only been on here actively for about 3 months so I'm not going to instantly have 300 followers! It takes work and patience. And since I currently don't have a full time job (yes I keep saying that) I should be able to be consistent on here!

*Blogging should be fun and as soon as I find it work and a pain I should take a step back and come back to it. I should blog about my life, not my life be all about the blog.

* I think I am looking most forward to getting the to know more bloggers. I love reading about such fascinating people even if they don't think they are. I don't just follow anyone for numbers. If you are interesting I want to read you every week so I follow. I just hope to get to that point with some fellow bloggers one day.

* These meet-ups and exchanges are such awesome ideas and I am hoping to get the chance to participate soon! Growing up in a military family I moved around a lot and got the opportunity to meet different people. Now that I'm older and not traveling with my family as much its nice to have a chance to do the same thing in a new way. Everyone has their best friends, their acquaintances; but not everyone has blog friends!

So some things that I plan on improving on my blog...
1. Replying to comments: I love that some people take the time to comment on my blog. I see them I promise! I want to respond and possibly continue contact!
2. I eventually will make a button. In order to dive head first into this swapping thing I first need to create something to swap!
3. Add more tabs. I noticed that it would be nice to have an "About Me" section!

Is there any advice you have for me or any tips that have worked for you?

Bourgie Recap so far in July...

I realized today that it had been almost a week since I last wrote a post and that I was about to head to NY on Thursday...that would have meant I wouldn't be at a computer to write until MONDAY. So i wanted to be able to get something out now! This is merely an update on my life, my weekend and details about my upcoming travels :)

So first off...I want to say how excited I am about 25 followers!!! Yay for people who actually read my blog. I mean I would still write here even if no one read but still its exciting. Thanks to all who read and comment. I'm trying to be like all you guys when I grow up in the blog world!

July has been a crazy month so far....
Diving head first into my part time job...
Searching for a full time job...
Reconnecting with my friends here in NC...
Traveling to visit friends and family...

But all in all things are really good in Charlotte.
I am starting to miss Orlando and I'm already planning my trip back to visit. But first I gotta make stops in Georgia and Virginia.

So a couple of recaps through photos...
I was finally able to obtain a coral color for the month of July that I love. Its Wet n Wild of course called "Heatwave" its great and I even found an accent nail color called "Through the Grapevine" which I will probably be using for August!

If you didn't know purple is my favorite color and I have been finding sheer shirts all summer. I love the way they feel but they do show everything that comes in contact with it (sweat and drinks when you are in a club. yikes!) But I ending up purchasing these collared shirts in Purple, Coral, and Tan. I really want a Royal Blue and a Black one. Would that be too many?

My best friend Nicole has been everywhere with me and letting me get reacquainted with Charlotte. We headed to a bar called Prohibition and had a blast. But it was soooo hot because it rained before we arrived so humidity was at a all time high! But we danced the night away and it was a great Saturday night!

Friday night I went out with "the girls" Tiffany, Nicole, Lauren to celebrate Laurens Bday. Margartias and food at Texas Roadhouse and the movies to see TED. I highly recommend their Margaritas. They are HUGE and so delicious. My go to is always frozen strawberry.

Since I cant be near Gregory we have gotten used to skyping for hours. Its so nice to talk to him like hes actually here and we listen to music and watch TV together lol

My two favorite purchases this month have been my leopard shoes from Off Broadway and my Aqua purse from ShoeDazzle. So cute and comfy!

Well thats all for now...Im off to start packing for NY!!!!!

July....2nd half of 2012!!!

With a new month comes...new hair!!! Okay its only temporary, but I am loving the curls right now and I think for July I may stick to it! I love changing up my looks!

BTW: I am excited to have new followers on my blog! It makes me happy to know that 8 PEOPLE (pause for effect) check out the bourgie-ness that is my life :) XO

So it is now officially July 1st. This means that the first half of 2012 is over. I cant believe how time flies. In the last 6 months so much has happened and changed that its hard to even think that it was all in the same year. It was filled with hugs and tears; drama and stress; party times and low times but as my life mantra goes

"Everything Happens For A Reason"

We learn and we grow. The most important thing that happened in the first 6 months is definitely making the decision to restart my blog! I think it has been really good for me so far and its so cheesy how I light up every time I talk about it to someone :)

For this 2nd half of 2012 I plan to be a little more open and adventurous to whats to come. I have a couple of trips planned (NY and ATL) plus I am still on my lovely job hunt (i finally got a part time to help out a little). I also want to really improve my relationships with my family and friends now that I am back in NC and be able to reconnect with some.

How was your first half of 2012?

FYI: Later today I will be posting my 101 in 1001 list. FINALLY!!! I'm so excited to be doing this and July 1st is my official start date for it.

Fridays Letters #1

Photobucket

Dear Reality TV, I LOVE YOU. My television line up is kind of awesome right now. Chicagolicious, Keeping up with the Kardashians, Hollywood Exes, Single Ladies, and Love and Hip Hop; Atlanta take up my DVR and I relish every minute. I know brain cells die every time I turn them on but I love the drama; cat fights, rumors, etc.

Dear Summer Heat, GO AWAY! It is supposed to be in the 100s all this weekend and I cant take it. I am forced to wear the least amount of clothing just to function outside! Shopping today wasn't bad because I was inside an air conditioned mall. But I cant take a whole summer of this. Womp

Dear Chipotle, Please come closer to my house! The closest location is 20 minutes away and I don't want to have to drive that far for your tasty goodness. But keep in mind I will because you are crack! Yum!

Dear Forever 21, Stop taking all my money. But thank you for carrying such cute clothes! :D

Happy Friday!!

Weekend Update #1

So a couple of things happened my first weekend in Charlotte. It was very low key but awesome at the same time. I hope there are more great things to come.

1. Friday: I haven't even been in Charlotte for a whole week and I have a new scratch on my car -_-
2. Friday: Day with the BFFF Nicole...found these "Niner Nuts" and it just cracked me up!!
3. Friday: Still unpacking! But the first thing done was my closet. I love looking at my closet and my shoes especially! But there is still more work and more shoes to be added once I pick up the ones at my parents house...yes the shoe addiction is real!
4. Saturday: BBQ with another bestie...it was great to see him and grill and catch-up. I was in the mood to get girly since I had been "roughin" it moving and such. So Mint Nail polish on the hands and feet, and a cute dress. I love prints! I don't like to wear solid colors. I currently have an obsession with leopard print; back in high school it was snakeskin (weird i know). This dress is an ode to that.
5. Saturday: Def Jam Rapstar with my girls for Keshia's birthday. If you have never played it; its basically Hip Hop Karaoke...famous rap songs that are catchy and memorable you sing with a microphone and get points on accuracy. Its so much fun and I need to update it and download more songs! But good times were had! But Girls night was great; food, drinks, and Dance Central too!
6. Sushi with my favoritest (yes i made that word up) Frat brother Carlos. He was driving home to Atlanta from VA and stopped in Charlotte to see me and catch-up. He is the BEST! Love him bunches and sushi dates are our THING
7. Silly Sunday. I was just feeling silly so I thought I would capture it. Maybe it was the Bacon Pancakes I made :)

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Sunday Confessions #2

1. I love nail polish...I just hate putting it on! I bought 2 new nail polishes this past week...both a minty color. I finally got a chance to put one of them on before I headed to a BBQ on Saturday and it is such a pain to do.But I love the end result. I think I will keep this color until the 4th of July :) What are some color ideas for July? I didn't want to do traditional Red.

2. I worry a lot that I may never find a career I'm happy with. The plan has always been to be an event planner. I love the background planning of events and the atmosphere of behind the scenes preparation. Weddings, parties, promotional events, I want to do it all. But it takes experience and trust and I am having a tough time finding someone to take me under their wing. Ugh! But I also have another interest of working in Higher Education with Student Affairs/Residence Life. I loved being an Resident Advisor when I was in school and I would love to do it professionally. But most jobs require a masters and that means....GOING BACK TO SCHOOL bum. bum. bum. ::cue evil music:: That is an option that's really not on the top of my list. But it may come back in the picture soon :/

3. Teen Wolf is an Awesome show....Empire Girls however is not. This show ended up being really good and I actually want to see what happens in the 2nd season and I haven't even finished the first! Empire Girls after watching one episode will NOT be in my reality TV rotation. All I hear is whining and complaining about past man problems and it seems only a publicity stunt for Adrienne's album that's coming out soon. Anyone seen either of these shows?

4. I miss the nightlife. No I'm not referring to being a woman of the night. I haven't been out downtown bar hopping and dancing in a week and I'm already missing it. I love just being carefree and dancing the night away with drinks and talking and socializing. Don't get me wrong I have a blast chillin in the apartment playing Dance Central with my girls (which is actually what I did last night!) but I like getting all dressed up and strutting my stuff lol Okay not actually strutting but maybe a slight pep in my step because I am out and about with my friends. *sigh* Anyone else love the nightlife?

Amusement Park Fun!

When I was in New Jersey 2 weeks ago Gregory FINALLY took me to Six Flags. Actually I am supposed to say Great Adventure; I have to be more specific about which SF i went to when I am around people who frequent amusement parks. When I lived in San Diego I went to Magic Mountain all the time so I really was expecting it to be the same thing. Sadly I found that there are different rides and things in general have really changed about the park since the early 2000s.

Anyway...

I was really excited to go and as soon as we got there...it started to rain. And not a downpour or a drizzle; it was that horrible mist/spray that makes you miserable and damp and creates that weird layer of water droplets on your hair and makes you just feel awkward. Maybe that's just me. Because of this rain we didn't ride as many rides as I had hoped but it was still a great time.

The Green Lantern was first and I must say that it was awesome. However the ride decided that the rain was cramping its style and broke down RIGHT before we were supposed to get on. Now any normal person would have chucked it up as a loss and left but based on principle we waited until it was working again. The ride would have been a new favorite had it not been for; the rain pelting my face after Gregory convinced me to sit in the front, and the mere fact that right before the last loop we got STOPPED. Not stuck but STOPPED because the car after us wasn't working....smh that made me not happy with the Green Lantern at all. So i really cant say if I will ever be back on it...its been tainted.

To make me feel better about the situation we headed to Rolling Thunder which was a great ride don't get me wrong but riding WOODEN roller coasters in the RAIN is not the smartest idea. But they were working so I couldn't complain right? Well as luck would have it the ride broke down AGAIN right before we were about to ride. I started to really think it was us, but I still decided to get on the ride. YOLO right? LOL Well the ride was really fast and I didn't expect it to actually scare me a little. There was no warning and all we had was a little handlebar across the waist. The security did not match the intensity of the ride.

I will say my new favorite ride is Bizarro. This ride was fun and no lines always make the ride experience better. Gregory was so excited explaining to me all the changes of the rides at Great Adventure over the years. Since he has been coming to Six Flags since he was a child, he has deemed himself an expert in the park :P and seemed to know everything about everything. It was so cute.

I think I got the most excited about Batman. This ride is my FAVORITE for multiple reasons. No Floor. Super Fast. and its Batman. What more could you want? It was so good we rode it twice. Wasn't exactly the best idea after eating lunch with all the loops but it was so damn fun! So that was a good end my day. I wont even talk about the Dark Knight we rode that was a huge disappointment and yet we rode that one twice as well. :(

All and all a good day despite the weather. In the future I would love to travel across the country visiting parks! What are some amusements I should check out?

Photo A Day June

So I love these photo a day things on Instagram (@MissNewBourgie) because they keep things interesting. June is almost over and I wanted to share my month so far!

1. My last week at my job was ridiculous! I had stacks of applications and financial paperwork to get done!
2. My roommate beat me to the punch and moved out first! She had the bigger room and closet...I was always jealous...
3. Eggs Benedict is my guilty pleasure. I need to find cute brunch places in Charlotte!
4. I either wear heels or converse...they are so classic!
5. The sign on my door made me feel official...hope I can find another job with my own office again.
6. OKC made it to the NBA Finals but I am rooting for Miami!
7. Moe's has the best queso...I have been on a quest to make white queso like theirs...sigh
8. Melanie Fiona's album rocks! I love how she is also Guyanese :)
9. Spending a weekend in Philly was awesome! South street is great...I bought some really cute jewelry
10. Miami needs to win the Finals! That would make me so happy since I am a LeBron fan
11. I love malls...even the malls in New Jersey. They don't have tax on clothing!
12. Jamba juice is crack and I was stoked they had one in Newark Airport
13. I am terrible at bowling but still love to go. Great way to hang out with friends without pressure. The art at Boardwalk Bowl is so cute....
14. I need a new watch. I usually only wear Fossil watches. Any recommendations on a new brand to try?

I will be back this week to recap and get back in the habit of writing. I guess I am starting to like blogging more now because the entire time I wasnt I was thinking  "dang i need to blog about this!" But there will be more to come soon because I need to make sure my life continues to get documented :) So ill be back later this week...

Sunday Confessions #1

Lets Go Heat! So excited for the Finals!

Im excited to be double posting today because I actually have something else to write about. While spending my evening reading blogs and watching movies I came across another Link-up that I wouldnt mind doing. Sunday Confessions: Since I am one who doesn't go to church I thought it was an interesting choice of words for this one. I am jumping on this so there goes all my Sunday posts. Maybe ill mix it up every other week. This Sunday however is themed to match my current vacay in New Jersey with Gregory and his family. Thank you Alyx from Every Day is a New Adventure!

1. I really wanted to attend Greg's friends' wedding today. Short story: Greg invited me to a wedding months in advance and I was excited to go because I love weddings and seeing people in love. (plus I also like to plan my own in my head) They were running behind on a lot of things including the invitations to the wedding itself. Once he received it he saw that there was no +1 on the invitation. When inquiring about wanting to bring me as his guest he was told that they "overbooked" and they assumed because we weren't dating when the seating arrangements were made that Greg wasn't going to bring anybody. Is it just me or is that the oddest thing ever? I feel like you should take certain things into account when you invite people to weddings (but that's just the event planner in me)

2. I may be a moderate shopaholic. So my friends know my obsession with shoes (ALL shoes) and how much I love shopping for clothes. But most people don't know that I love to shop in general. Grocery, Shoe, etc, I love it. I get a rush just picking up a few items at Target. I constantly have a Things to Buy list because I'm always needing/wanting something. I joke with my mother about being a shopaholic, but what if I really am?

3. The sound of the flip flop when it slaps against the bottom of someones foot makes me cringe. That noise just absolutely irritates me. I cant explain it but I can honestly tell you that when I walk in my flip flop no ridiculous noise is made. And I have tried to make it several times. It comes from letting the flip flop just hang on your foot. I cant hear that sound without getting agitated.

4. I'm happy for Miley Cyrus getting engaged. For 2 reasons; 1, Liam Hemsworth is gorgeous and someone needed to snatch him up. 2, you cant help who you love and if he proposed and her first feeling was yes then why not? My parents got married at 18 and 21 and this year they will be married for 27 years. I believe in love. Plus she doesn't have to get married right away.

5. I dint get tired of food very easily.oI realized this after this past week. I had pork 4 days in a row! When I cook its only for me now so I have enough to have it for lunch and dinner for the next 2 days, but then I went and ate Chinese food with Pork fried rice and Pork Potstickers...lol But it was all yummy and most of the time I am okay with eating the same things. But being such a foodie I am willing to eat something different everyday just to experience new flavors and places!

Vacay

So I've been in New Jersey since Thursday and I will be here until Wednesday on "Vacation". I don't know if you can really call it vacation because my last day at my job was Thursday. If anyone follows me on twitter they know that I complained and griped a lot about my job and was very unhappy. I stayed there for 2 years and since my movement to relocate back to Charlotte started I was on a mission to get out of there as soon as I could.

But the sad part is now that I don't have a job I need to be proactive and find a new one in Charlotte. Thank goodness I saved up money before I head down there. I leave Orlando in 9 days. I'm nervous, excited, frustrated, scared, etc, but it will be a great time!

Well I will now get back to my vacation consisting of eating a whole bunch of food, hopefully a trip to an amusement park, and lots of dancing!

Life Via Instagram #1

So I absolutely love Instagram. I got my iphone in January and it was one of the FIRST apps I downloaded. I love taking pictures and since I don't carry my camera around as much anymore (even though I should) I am so happy that I am able to use my phone to do so and post it! Its amazing what a world we are living in now where most people in your life can know whats going on with you just by reading a couple lines on Twitter, or checking out pictures on Facebook. A picture is worth a 1000 words( especially when it comes to my friends and family!) and I love that everyone can enjoy them in one place. So my first ever link-up is going to be using my favorite app on my phone....Life Via Instagram. I got this from Ashley at After Nine to Five. Enjoy!

From Left to Right:
1. My cute top that I wore to Brunch with two of my sisters Wendy and Lisette. I love taking pictures of my hair and my top of the day! Its hard to do a full body shot! lol
2. Peach Bellinis! These were delicious. We had brunch at this cute little place called "The Briar Patch" on Park Ave in Winter Park...so cute and quaint (never thought I would use that word!)
3. Ginos Pizza downtown Orlando...where I tend to always end my night of bar hopping and dancing the night away with my friends. We always meet some characters!
4. I tend to always take at least one picture of myself a week. This is just because my mother is always asking for pictures to send to her and I am and avid Facebook profile pic updater (i like people to be updated on how I look *yes you can laugh*)
5. Another eventful Saturday night. Since we travel in a pack (like 6-7 deep) we tend to always find people who want a bunch of girls to dance around in their VIP and drink their champagne. Its not an everyday thing, but that night was really fun!
6. Sunday night I was able to cook a really outstanding meal for myself and watch the Heat game! I love to cook and any chance I get I try to improve my skills :) Pork Chops, green beans, and butter herbs noodles were on the menu that night.

Blog Hop!

Happy June!

I decided that the month of June was the perfect time to join a weekly a Blog Hop that I have been looking at for a couple weeks now....I think it will be a great way for me to get my blog out there along with finding new blogs to read every week. I plan on sitting down and really figuring out what blogs I'm addicted to reading, because today while going through Reading List I found out I follow 118 on Blogspot!!! I love reading blogs but that is just crazy! Bloglovin doesnt seem to back up as much and is sooo much easier to read so I think thats why I mentally want to check it more. I just don't get a chance to read everyone's entries because I get so overwhelmed. Especially if its been a couple days since I have posted myself. I know that I would still read those that follow me, but until then I need to cut back a little. I do have my favorites already, but I'm sure every does! So check out the Blog Hop...its done every week. My goal is the do it every week for the summer. I hope to find some great blogs and get some awesome ideas on how to improve my own blog.

Im going back to Charlotte, Charlotte, Charlotte ::LL Cool J voice::

So i officially announced my departure from Orlando, FL to head back to Charlotte, NC. And by officially I let my sorority sisters know and gave my job my 2 week notice. So its been a pretty emotional week. I need to add some sort of countdown clock on my blog lol. Im leaving in 25 days so I dont even know if that would be worth it...

Im behind on a lot of posts just because there is a lot of stuff going on and blogging just slips my mind. I plan to work on that this summer. Somehow I feel like there will be more time to do that. But now that its official I need to get into "move" mode because I have a lot to do and not a lot of time to do it. Procrastination is my game and I am an expert.

So this weekend I am heading to my cousins for a family BBQ and I need to bring the first batch of my stuff. But I need to start purging. I love moving!! ::pause for reaction:: and I love to throw away stuff I dont need or use ::pause for same reaction:: I like the idea of being very mobile and having a crapload of stuff to lug everywhere does not follow that idea. Plus when you get rid of old stuff it means its time for new stuff :) So that is what I will be spending hours of my day after work doing. Purging and packing up the car. I leave bright and early tomorrow for Charlotte.

Random Pic of the Day: Last week I went to a Food Truck Bazaar (sadly no pics) and the first place I hit was Chicken and Waffles. Sooooooo delicious! I am such a fat kid and I can back this up because this photo is my Facebook profile pic smh...but it was fun and the next time there is food truck event I plan to spend more time trying everything. And photograph it all!

I have a lot more photos on my Instagram so follow me :) missnewbourgie

My Surprise Visit

So this weekend I took a trip to New Jersey. This was to surprise Gregory for his birthday. I literally had been planning this trip for 2 months with his best friend and it happened without a single hitch! He was so surprised! I even had his mom in on the surprise. Gregory really thought I wasn't coming because I kept making other plans the same weekend so I "couldn't make it". There was one point that he was honestly sad and a little upset that I couldn't come. But little did he know that I had my flight booked since March and I was ready to surprise him with his gift (me!) I think he went through several emotions in one minute. I hadn't seen him since Christmas so it was so nice to see the grin on his face when I walked into the club!!! All of his close friends were there to celebrate and we all danced and drank the night away! Such a good time! The club was called Red and I appropriately wore my red dress! I didn't take a picture of the shoes but I wore my Nude pumps that I just bought at the beginning of this month and they really made the whole outfit hot!(the pic of them is in my last post). I also recently just got my hair redid so I was feeling pretty good with how I looked!

But even though my time in New Jersey was short I had a blast. Hit up a couple of bars, ate some White Castle, and hung out with some really great people. There was one more big surprise of the weekend and it came from his parents. Ill make a whole separate post about it because it is just too awesome!

So now that its almost June the Summer of Trips has begun. I leave for ANOTHER trip to New Jersey  in 2 weeks and I am really looking forward to it. I hope to do all the things that I didn't get to do this time. I definitely want to hit up Six Flags :) I am heading to Charlotte this weekend for Memorial Day Weekend with the family. Should be a good time! My parents, cousins, and Aunts and Uncles will be there. My cousin just bought a house with her fiance' and they are finally having a get together. The house is gorgeous!!! There will definitely be pictures to capture all that happens. Then in July I am heading to NY for a weekend filled with my Upsilon Family, Stepping, and Strolling (all some of my favorite things!) That should definitely be a good time!

Until next time!

May Catch-Up

So I thought I would do a little catch up of my month so far...these are just a few photos of the beginning of May!

Left to Right: Outfit for Firestone Henry Santos concert, New D&G glasses, Shoedazzle shoe Solara, Me, Anne and Ashley heading out for a graduation celebration, Cinco De Mayo Outfit, Shoedazzle shoe Insatiable.

Henry Santos concert was a disaster! We ended up leaving the venue to go visit people downtown before the show started (he didn't even perform until 1am) but we weren't allowed back in the club when we returned even though the bouncer TOLD us we could before we left...smh. It did end up being a good time anyway because we club hopped and that is always fun. I broke in my new black wedges that I got from Charlotte Russe and my feet didn't hurt the entire night!

I am so happy that I was able to get new glasses after 3 years of having my old ones. I'm always late when it comes to updating things like prescriptions, but 2012 has let me get things in order. I love these frames and I am so happy with my choice. Not gonna lie, they look exactly like my old frames except they are all back and not black and red  ^.^

Christmas came when I received my Shoedazzle shoes in the mail! I had been waiting on my insatiable shoe for A MONTH!!! They are limited addition and super high but I love the way they make my legs look. Because of the height and the platform these are definitely NOT clubbing shoes so I will have to find a nice event to wear these where I wont be moving a lot or perhaps sitting down lol. The Solara is the nude shoe I have been waiting for! I still want patent leather ones, but these are so classy and I am excited to be wearing these this weekend!

Graduation has come and gone at UCF but they sure do love to party down here. So the Friday night of graduation we headed downtown to see everyone after SEVERAL venue changes (i like to club hop, but not with so many people). After a long conversation we decided to visit and stay at a club one of my good friends started working at. It was an interesting night to say the least. We had a stalker who refused to speak to us, stayed within 10 feet of us the whole night, and when we didn't give him any attention THREW BEAD NECKLACES at us....who does that????? It was weird but fun. Didn't get my usual slice of pizza at the end of the night but my feet were killing so I wouldn't have wanted to wait.

CINCO DE MAYO was awesome! Early dinner at a Mexican Restaurant called Maria Bonitas :) and really strong Margaritas!!! That night we headed downtown (yes I frequent there) and drank Coronas all night and danced the night away! I had a blast! My outfit was so much fun. I had bought my tribal skirt weeks before and was saving it for this outing. My good friend Anne let me borrow her shoes because I admired them so much the night before :) They are by Wild Pair are sky high but ridiculously comfortable. Unfortunately I have been trying to find my own pair but cannot find the EXACT ones. They only have a snakeskin or red leopard. But i am not complaining because I WILL be getting the multi colored snakeskin. Ill probably add them to my June wish list :)

So that's all that has been going on so far in the month of May...but its almost over! Ill recap the last couple weeks once its over...Memorial Day in Charlotte is coming up and a bday celebration that will probably be a little chaotic!!

Happy Mothers Day

So its been about 10 days since I have last written but I wanted to make sure I at least was able to do a Mothers Day post.

Happy Mothers Day to all the great women out there who have dedicated their lives to taking care of their children and giving them the world. To those who aren't with us, may they Rest In Peace and know that we are still thinking about them. ♥♥♥

When I think about how many women in my life are mothers or have a "mother like" role in my life I realize that I am truly blessed. I will always remember something from each and every one of them. My own mother, my god mother, my aunts, my cousins, my line sisters, and my Nana who is no longer with us. Each of them has impacted my life in some way and has helped me figure out what kind of mother I want to be when I'm ready.

I'm starting to get better at gift giving on special days like birthdays, mothers days, anniversaries, etc. Usually I forget or I send something late. But this is 2 years in a row that I have been able to send my mother flowers and I love how excited she gets because I always send them the day before so she doesn't expect them.

My dad had flowers sent to my mothers office on Friday so she got double to flowers this year! I was not happy because my dad is actually there so he can get her OTHER stuff besides flowers lol Its my thing. But she was happy non the less and that's all that matters.

I also realized that I have not been able to spend a Mothers Day with my mom in 8 years. This has been due to me having to work in college during the summer and my parents living overseas in Japan for 6 years. But now that they are in VA I'm going to try and make more of an effort to find my way to them on special days.

These next 3 months are pretty killer on celebrations. This month was Mothers Day and Memorial Day, next month is my Dad's birthday and Fathers Day, and July is my Mom's birthday and 4th of July. Whew! Hopefully I will get to see my parents for most of them.

I hope everyone is able to enjoy time with their mothers today and let them know how much you appreciate them. I leave you with one of my favorite pics of my mother and me.

Wish List for May

So every month I always make a small wish list of things that I intend to buy that month. Keyword is INTEND since I always end up getting other things that catch my attention. I suffer from small doses of shopping ADD but its a touch and go thing. But for the most part I always end up with what I intentionally went in to buy. Except for Target lol I can't go in there without looking at the no-no areas (shoes, beauty, jewelry, and clearance!)

I organized my closet the other day by color because I read in a magazine that if you do that its easier to see what you have a lot of. Well low and behold I found out that I love to wear black, grey, blue, and purple. Those are my go to colors and I need to stay away this summer; or at least cut back.I am trying to focus on adding things that are versatile and colorful to my wardrobe so we shall see how it goes.

White Jeans/Capris/Bermudas: I have a love hate relationship with white because of the "dirty" factor. But I have a really great navy blue blazer that I want to wear and I think it would look great with white jeans instead of dark ones

Brown Sandals: I really don't have any flat shoes. I live in heels! But since it is the summer I know there will be a lot of times that I need flats. Mostly during the day and even at work. I like to be comfortable at work so I never wear my 6-inchers to the job. But a couple of cute pairs of sandals in colors OTHER THAN BLACK would have my wardrobe a lot. Maybe i choose more colors to wear up top.

Maxi dresses: Now I already have one but I figure I cant just wear one all summer. They are more comfortable than I thought because there really is no effort to wear these dresses. I love the idea of slipping it on and going. But I plan to get bright colors. The one in my closet is BLUE lol

Shoes!!: I said I buy shoes every week and I really wasn't kidding. I'm going to have to post a picture of my collection just so it can be known how bad my addiction is!

Suede Mary Jane Wedge: I have been staring at these for a month now and I haven't decided which ones I really want. Blue or Fuchsia. If I get the fuchsia I would have to find something amazing for them to go with. I already have so many things that go with the blue ones!

Cork Wedges: I really love the way cork wedges look. They seem lighter and a couple I have tried on were. I am not a fan of the original espadrilles because they felt bulky and I could never find ones that didn't cut into my skin. But we shall see. The tribal ones look awesome!

Blue Keyhole Pumps: These a elusive just because they are sold out everyone on line except for one place. I want to replace my old blue pumps with these. I would be adding blue again to my collection but I feel like switching out doesn't count right?

**Sadly this is only my wish list. What I end up at the end of the month will be a whole other story. Ill recap at the end just to see how I did**
