Panthers no longer on the prowl

Hola!

Did anyone feel like this past weekend went by super fast? I don't think I even processed Saturday let alone Monday. I feel like January has already started going in hyper drive. But what little time I did have this weekend I spent hanging out with friends and watching the Panthers in the playoffs! It was such an exciting time in Charlotte. Everyone was so pumped to see the Panthers against the 49ers. My Giants did not make it anywhere this year (which is sad, but they played awful this season) so it was only right to support the home team. I loved how much energy the city had coming from the fans from both teams. The bar my friends and I went to had a wall of TVs which made it amazing to watch the game. Unfortunately the Panthers fizzled out in the second half and lost, but I still enjoy a good game of football no matter who is playing. Get me some beer, wings, fries and I'm a happy camper!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

UNCC Homecoming

Homecoming weekend was amazing!
Or as I like to put things "Off the Chain"! (yes I still say that)
There was so much going on and so many people.
I loved it all!

But I do have to say that tailgating is such an exhausting ordeal that there really is no choice
but to drink once you are all settled and finally enjoying yourself.

I was in charge of coordinating the whole thing;
making sure everyone was assigned to bring something, finding a spot, and coordinating gear.

Aside from a few setbacks and a some time issues
we managed to end up on the craziest side of the parking lot.

Just one side of the tailgate!

So many drinks, food, and loud music.
It was hard not to get caught up in the madness.
We provided a tasty that we cleverly named NORM-NDY (Our schools mascot is named Norm).
We never finished the 2 coolers we brought..

The funny part was once the game started this whole section did not clear out for another 2 hours.
Apparently all of the alumni (including us) did not plan to go to the game.
We just wanted to celebrate finally getting football and reuniting with friends from years ago.

My best friend Nicole and my sorority sister Sabrina. baby's first tailgate!
No she didn't drink but that doesn't mean she cant join in on the fun!

Shirts I made for us! Reppin our Class!

Communications Majors reunited!

I can't believe I graduated 5 years ago. Sometimes it feels longer.
But it was really interesting to see alumni who graduated BEFORE me turn up at the tailgate.
Makes me not feel so bad about wanting to show up for a few more weekends

Until next year!

Labor Day Weekend 2013

So my Labor Day Weekend was pretty awesome.
Lots of driving, spending time with friends and family, and drinking.
Lots of drinking.
The weather wasn't exactly ideal, but we made it work.

UNC Charlotte's first EVER football game was this weekend and it was such an awesome experience. The ticketing fiasco didn't deter me and my ladies from heading to the local bar and cheering on our Alma Mater. It was such a fun atmosphere and the tailgating drunkies came in droves inside to where it was nice and cool. I was really sad to not be in the stadium, but you have to make the most of it.
My girls and I proceeded to plan out how Homecoming is going to go. That's the weekend of my birthday so it will be quite a celebration. We are making shirts, a signature drink, and tailgating all day (since we wont be able to actually GO to the game).
It was such a great time!

one Me and the girls showing our school spirit
two Free Coozies at the Bar!
three 49ers won 52-7! It was 32-7 by halftime!
four 49er shots every time they scored!

Now I didn't want to miss out on my LDW ritual of heading down to Atlanta so as soon as the game was over I drove down to Georgia (same day) to be with my sorority sisters. My line sister Melissa just moved there this year so it was nice to have a new place to stay!
We went out for dinner at my favorite Korean Taco place and headed out for drinks and dancing.

one My sisters who live in ATL except for Tammie (far left)
she came down to visit the boyfriend from New Jersey.
two I learned about Prohibition. This bar is a secret and you have to know the code to get in.
No code. No entry.
Place was straight out of the 20s and the drinks were delicious!
Next time I'm going to try a cigar.
three Wet Willies. Always a good time. Music was on point. All from the Dirty South.

I spent my last day in ATL with my family. My parents drove down from VA to visit my grandmother and BBQ with my Aunt and cousins. With my parents I took a trip to the Dekalb International Market and got some really cool things. I was ll the way mad that they have a strict NO TAKING PICTURES policy. Ugh.
Before we headed to my Aunts for a BBQ we stopped to get all my essential West Indian foods that I love. Curry powder, Plantain Chips, Pholourie, Patties, and Cheese Straw. Yum!
It was such a nice time and so awesome to see everyone. I hadn't seen most of them since New Years Eve. Last stop of the day was to visit my grandfathers grave. It was my first time back there since the funeral.
one it was a rainy day but still nice and warm. I have been loving my jean vest these days!
two My grandfathers beautiful headstone
three Meet Jet! My line sisters awesome Lab
four Franks Caribbean grocery where I can get most of my yummy goodies!

Hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend!

XOXO

My Alma Mater FINALLY GETTING A FOOTBALL TEAM!!!
Yes you read that correctly....WE GOT A FOOTBALL TEAM!!!

August 31st will be the first football game UNC Charlotte will have and since its Labor Day Weekend things are going to get crazy!! Time for tailgating, drinks, and face paint.
I've been looking for some ideas that me and my friends can use and here are my favorite choices.

1. Paint a phrase on the stomach/chest: This would be awesome except for the fact that I am not a fan of showing my stomach to the world. Also it would look awful if we were missing a person due to drunkeness or a bathroom break.

2. Entire body paint: This may be more strictly for guys because of the commitment that it takes. Plus it would be really hot i don't think sweaty runny body paint would look attractive.

I am in NO WAY a Saints fan...but I thought this looked pretty good. Even the hair is gold!

3. Airbrush Football Jersey: So this is more of the sexy version of full body paint; But it still looks like you are wearing clothes. This would be a eye-catching and probably awesome idea, except for the fact that my chest is HUGE! and there may be children around. Very cool for Sports magazines, but not for public wear.

4.  Eye Black. Simple and I can write anything short and sweet on it.
Beyonce' makes it look so fashionable and fun!

I think I'm leaning towards the Eye Black only because tailgating is going to be happening so I don't want to look like a drunken mess and have my face paint running. Not cute!

Has anyone done any of these for a football game?
How did it go?

XOXO

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Awesome view of the Football Stadium!

Charlotte finally has football!
Last weekend we headed to the new Charlotte stadium for a scrimmage game.
I have to say it was such a good time.
Armed with Straw-ber-ritas in hand we headed to the game for a historical event.

Charlotte Tickets!!

Great seats! We shall see once the season starts!

The stadium is great looking. Glad my student fees paid for it lol.
I have to say that there was a lot more alumni out there than undergrad.
I think it was because everyone in the community is finally excited to rally together for a college team.
Our city is definitely split down the middle between Duke and UNC.
Now hopefully we can focus on our team!

My and my BFFF Nicole

It was a beautiful day and there was a good crowd out. Everyone was very school -spirited and wore their Niner Green. Or in my case Niner Blue lol (for some reason I had a navy blue Charlotte shirt).
For alumni it was mainly a reunion, catching up with people we hadn't seen in forever.
But since it was a scrimmage, no one really paid attention to the game.

My awesome friend EJ

We missed out on the tailgating.
We didnt want to pay the extra money since we lived right across the street.
But we do make our own plans to do a pre-game gathering at the house when the season starts.
I cant wait until August 31st!

My bestest buddy ever BJ!!
Yes I have close guy friends named EJ and BJ :)

What are you looking forward to the most when it comes to college football?

XOXO

Football Faves

In lieu of football season starting I wanted to put up some of my favorite NFL men right now. Don't get me wrong I love my football (Giants all the way!!!) and I am looking forward to a great season but off the field these men are so nice to look at!!

Preseason isn't really that interesting, so until the regular season starts I thought I would enjoy the eye candy....Its not like basketball where you see their face all the time.

Which makes it all the better when you see pictures without the helmets and are pleasantly surprised! I sound like a hormonal teenager lol

Today's selection is CAM NEWTON!
He just recently did a spread and was on the cover of GQ mgazine.
Even if you aren't a Panthers fan you really can't help but swoon!

I love nice teeth!!!

Seriously...I'm so glad I live in North Carolina :)

Im still confused about why they would do such an amazing photo shoot for a Men's magazine!
Could I have these shots in my Cosmo or InStyle please??

Even if you aren't a fan of watching football....Who is your eye candy in the NFL?
